Why is the blue LED on my Fire TV Stick remote?
If your Fire TV Stick remote’s blue LED is on it is because Alexa is listening for a voice command. The blue LED will turn on whenever you press and hold the Alexa button or say “Alexa”.
Once Alexa is activated, the blue LED will remain on until you give a voice command. Sometimes the blue LED remains on for no reason.
How do I turn off the blue LED on my Fire TV Stick remote?
If you’re not a fan of the blue LED remaining on, here’s are 6 methods for how you can turn it off.
Alexa Button
You can try pressing the Alexa button again to deactivate Alexa. Once Alexa is deactivated, the blue LED should turn off.
Reset Alexa
If pressing the Alexa button didn’t work, you can try resetting Alexa. To do this, press and hold the Alexa button on your remote for approx 20 seconds.
Soft Reset Fire TV Stick Remote
Another way to fix the blue LED issue is to remove the batteries from your remote. Once the batteries have been removed, wait for a few seconds before putting them back in. This should soft reset your remote and turn off the blue LED.
Clean Fire TV Stick Remote
If the soft reset didn’t work, you can try cleaning your remote. To do this, simply use a cotton swab or cloth to clean all of the buttons.
Any liquid or debris in the microphone button could be triggering Alexa, which would then cause blue LED to stay on. Once you’re finished cleaning, the blue LED should be gone.
Hard Reset Fire TV Stick Remote
To do a hard reset, first unplug your Fire TV Stick from its power source and wait a couple of minutes.
Next, press and hold Left on the directional pad, Menu, and Back buttons at the same time for approx 15 seconds.
Wait 5 seconds and remove the batteries from your remote. Re-connect power to your Fire TV Stick and after 1 minute, place the batteries back into your remote then press the Home button.
Factory Reset Fire TV Stick
If all else fails, you will need to factory reset your Fire TV Stick. Before you factory reset, you should know that this will delete all data from your Fire TV Stick. This includes any apps, games, settings, and preferences.
Once you’ve confirmed the reset, your Fire TV Stick will restart and the blue LED should disappear.
