If your Fire TV Stick is frozen and you can’t get it to respond, don’t panic – there’s a way to reset it. I will show you how to do it. It’s a quick and easy process. Just follow my simple steps, and you’ll be up and running again in no time!
It can be frustrating when your Fire TV Stick becomes unresponsive. Maybe you’re in the middle of watching a movie or your favourite series, and suddenly everything stops. You can’t even get the menu to come up, let alone exit out of what you’re doing.
Soft Reset Your Fire TV Stick
If your Fire TV Stick is unresponsive or frozen, the first thing you should try is a simple soft reset/restart.
Soft Reset Using Fire TV Stick Remote
To do this, just press and hold the remote’s Select button and the Play/Pause button simultaneously for about 10 seconds until it restarts.
This soft reset process will clear the Fire TV Stick cache and reboot the system RAM but it will not erase any app data or settings.
Force Restart Your Fire TV Stick
If a soft reset using the remote didn’t work, you can disconnect your Fire TV Stick from power.
To do this, just unplug the USB power lead from the back of the device. Then wait for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in again.
Once it’s plugged back in, turn on your TV and check if the Fire TV logo has appeared.
Factory Reset Your Fire TV Stick
If neither of these methods work, then you can try a factory reset.
Please note: The factory reset will remove all apps, account data and settings.
Factory Reset Using A Fire TV Stick Remote
To do this, press and hold the remote’s Right button on the directional pad and Back button simultaneously for 15 seconds, or until you see a “Reset to Factory Defaults“ message appear.
Next, press Left button on the directional pad and then the select button to confirm “OK“, Alternatively you can wait for the timer to automatically factory reset your Fire TV Stick.
Factory Reset Your Fire TV Stick Without A Remote
If you need to factory reset your Fire TV Stick without a remote, there are a few different ways you can do it. One way is to use the Fire TV app on your smart phone.
You can also use adbLink software or ADB Shell commands on your PC or Mac. Lastly, you can connect a USB keyboard or mouse to your Fire TV Stick and navigate to the factory reset menu that way.
