Do you need to factory reset your Fire TV Stick, but can’t find the remote? Or maybe the remote is broken.
Don’t worry, there’s numerous ways to factory reset your Fire TV Stick without a remote. All you need is either a smartphone, computer with an internet connection, USB keyboard or USB mouse.
Follow our simple steps, and in just a few minutes your Fire TV Stick will be back to its original settings.
Please note: You will need a remote for setup after factory resetting the Fire TV.
Fire TV App
The easiest and quickest way to reset your Fire TV Stick is to use the Fire TV Stick app.
If you’ve already installed the app on your smartphone or tablet, simply open it and select Set Up New Device from the bottom menu bar.
Next, connect to remote by choosing your Fire TV Stick from the list of devices. If you are connecting to your Fire TV Stick for the first time, you will be prompted to enter a 4-digit code displayed on your TV.
Once you have connected to your Fire TV Stick using the Fire TV app, tap the cog icon and then Settings.
Use the Fire TV app pad to navigate to My Fire TV and then scroll down to tap Reset to factory defaults.
A warning message will appear asking if you really want to reset your Fire TV Stick. Tap Reset.
Your Fire TV Stick will now restart and begin the factory reset process. Once it has finished, your device will be wiped clean and you’ll need to set it up again from scratch.
adbLink Software
adbLink is a free and open-source software that allows you to connect to your Android device over a USB cable or Wi-Fi. Once connected, you can use adbLink to install apps, transfer files, and run commands.
To use adbLink on your Fire TV Stick, you must enable ADB Debugging and obtain your Fire TV Stick’s IP Address.
Once you have installed adbLink on your computer, launch the program and connect to your Fire TV Stick.
ADB Shell
After you have connected your Fire TV Stick to adbLink, click on ADB Shell.
Type or copy & paste (right-click mouse) the following command and then tap Enter to open your Fire TV Stick settings:
am start -n com.amazon.tv.launcher/.ui.SettingsActivity
Type or copy & paste (right-click mouse) the following command and then tap Enter to factory reset your Fire TV Stick:
am broadcast -a com.amazon.tv.intent.action.MASTER_CLEAR
ADB Keypad
Similar to the Fire TV app approach, you can use the adbLink keypad to navigate your Fire TV Stick’s settings and factory reset your device.
To use the adbLink keypad, click on Keypad.
Click the keypad buttons to scroll & select on Fire TV Stick.
USB Keyboard
You can also factory reset your Fire TV Stick using a USB keyboard. Simply connect the USB keyboard to one of the ports on the back of your Fire TV Stick.
After you have connected your USB keyboard, navigate to the factory reset menu (Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to factory defaults > Reset).
If your Fire TV Stick is frozen, try pressing Escape and Right Arrow, hold these keys for 15 seconds until a prompt appears asking if you want to proceed with factory reset. Accept this choice using the arrows keys over to the Reset option and press Enter.
Alternatively, just wait 20 seconds and the Fire TV Stick should reset automatically.
USB Mouse
Our last option is to use a USB mouse. You can easily hook up a USB mouse to one of the ports on the back of your Fire TV Stick.

However, this is my least preferred solution because the mouse pointer will not be visible on your screen. To get back to factory settings, click around on the screen until you gain access to the Settings menu. From there navigate to My Fire TV > Reset to factory defaults > Reset.
Conclusion
We hope one of these methods worked for you and that you were able to successfully factory reset your Fire TV Stick without a remote. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below.
