The Amazon Fire TV Stick is a nifty little device that lets you stream content from the internet to your TV. However, if your Fire TV Stick gets stuck on “Connecting to Amazon”, it can be quite frustrating.
It won’t respond no matter what button you press, meaning you cannot progress to the home screen in anyway possible.
Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to fix the issue. In this tutorial, I will summarise the steps to take in order to resolve the problem.
How to solve your Fire TV Stick not connecting to Amazon?
Sometimes, your Fire TV Stick may freeze on “Connecting to Amazon”. However this is usually just a temporary malfunction that can be resolved with restarting your router or Fire TV stick itself.
If this doesn’t fix the issue, you may need to update your Fire TV Stick’s firmware or factory reset.
Check your internet connection
Make sure that your router is switched on and your Wi-Fi network is working properly.
Restart your Router
You should restart your router. Once you have done that, check to see if your Fire TV Stick has internet access by going to Settings > Network and verify network status by pressing the Play button on your remote.
If the test is successful, then the issue is most likely with the Amazon servers and you will need to wait for the issue to be fixed on their end.
Force restart your Fire TV Stick
If restarting your router doesn’t work, force restart your Fire TV Stick by unplugging it from the power socket for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
Once it has restarted, try to connect to Amazon again.
Update your Fire TV Stick’s firmware
If the issue persists, you may need to update your Fire TV Stick’s firmware. You can do this by going to Setting > My Fire TV > Install Update.
If there is an update available, follow the prompts to install it. Once the update has been installed, try to connect to Amazon again.
Factory reset your Fire TV Stick
If none of the steps above have worked, you will need to factory reset your Fire TV Stick.
Please note. This will erase all data from your Fire TV Stick.
You should now know how to fix your Fire TV Stick when stuck on “Connecting to Amazon”. To summarise, check to see if your Wi-Fi router is working properly by testing it with another device like a phone or laptop.
If you’re using a guest network, make sure that it allows streaming devices and services like the Fire TV Stick.
If you still can’t connect after trying these steps, try force restarting your Fire TV Stick. You may also need to update your Fire TV Stick’s firmware or factory reset your device.
